New Local Plan: Pre-Submission publication
Opening and closing date
From 12pm on 7 August until 12pm on 20 September 2024.
Pre-Submission publication
The Council is now publishing the next version of the Surrey Heath Local Plan, known as the ‘Pre-Submission’ or ‘Regulation 19’ version for comments. This version has been informed by the responses we received to the Local Plan consultations held in spring and summer 2022 as well as findings from our updated evidence base and input from other stakeholder engagement.
This Pre-Submission version of the Local Plan is being made available for comments from 7 August at 12 noon to 20 September 2024 at 12 noon. This is the final opportunity to comment on the Plan before it is submitted to the Secretary of State for independent examination.
We have already taken account of comments made on earlier versions of the Local Plan so representations at this stage should only be made on matters of legal and procedural compliance, soundness and conformity with the Duty-to-Cooperate. Guidance notes have been prepared to help you make representations and these can be viewed on the planning policy consultation portal.
How to view documents
As well as publishing the Pre-Submission Local Plan for comments we are also publishing a Sustainability Appraisal, Policies Map and Policy Mapping booklet for comments. These and other key supporting documents can be viewed on our planning policy consultation portal.
During the publication period core documents can be viewed in hard copy at the Council Office and local libraries. More information on opening times is set out on the new Local Plan webpage.
How to make comments
Comments must be received by 12 noon on 20 September 2024.
The Council will not accept representations received after the deadline. The Council cannot accept anonymous representations.
We strongly encourage representations to be made online using our consultation portal. Further information on how to make representations, including representation forms and guidance notes can be found on the planning policy consultation portal.
Next steps
Following the close of the Publication period duly made representations, as well as the Local Plan and supporting documents will be submitted to the Secretary of State for independent Examination.
Further detail on the Local Plan timetable can be found in the Local Development Scheme. The preparation of a Local Plan is a long process that goes through a number of key stages. Our Local Development Scheme (LDS) sets out the timetable for the preparation of the local plan through to its adoption.
