Attend your appointment

Attending your appointment with us and what to bring.

Once we have received and reviewed your application form we will contact you to arrange an appointment.

What you need to bring

You will need to bring the following supporting documents:

  • your digital application form
  • a passport photo
  • a full valid UK driving licence (must have been held for a minimum of 12 months).
  • a medical report
  • a practical driving assessment certificate
  • proof of your right to work in the UK - this can be a UK or Irish passport or a right to work share code from the GOV.UK

If you don’t bring the appropriate documents, we will not be able to complete the appointment. Please read your appointment email carefully as it will advise you which documents to bring with you.

Please note that it may be up to four weeks before we are able to invite you in for the appointment due to a high volume of applications at present.

DBS disclosure

We will also send you a TaxiPlus website link for an enhanced DBS disclosure online. TaxiPlus will be able to assist you with any queries about this process and the supporting documents required. You must use the link we provide, as disclosures from other providers will not be accepted. Do not try to apply for the DBS before we provide this link to you, as we will not be able to store the disclosure if we do not have a record of your licence application in our database and you will need to apply (and pay) for a new DBS.

If there is a restriction in the length of time you may work in the UK, the licence will not be issued for any longer than this period. In such circumstances, the check will be repeated each time you apply to renew or extend your licence. If, during this period, you are disqualified from holding a licence because you have not complied with the UK’s immigration laws, your licence will lapse and you must return it to the Council. Failure to do so is a criminal offence.

If you have spent more than three months out of the UK since the age of 16, or if you have moved to the UK since the age of 16, you will be required to provide a Certificate of Good Conduct.
