Rent Choice scheme: information for landlords
The Rent Choice scheme is to help those who are homeless or at risk of being homeless secure private rented accommodation by providing financial support for the first month's rent in advance, and/or a deposit bond.
When Rent Choice assistance is agreed, the Council may issue a deposit bond to help a tenant secure the property. A landlord can make a claim against the deposit bond at the end of the tenancy to cover any rent arrears or damage to the property. Evidence of the costs being claimed must be provided. All claims against the deposit bond must be made within four weeks from the date of the tenancy ending.
