Great news for young people in Surrey Heath. Funding for The Workshop has been secured until 31 March 2026 from the Department of Work and Pensions Flexible Support Fund.
The Workshop, located in Surrey Heath House in Camberley is a joint partnership between Surrey Heath Borough Council and The Department for Work and Pensions, providing holistic support to people aged 18 to 24 living in Surrey Heath.
The Workshop works closely with employment support providers, local businesses, organisations and charities to offer young job seekers opportunities to improve their employment skills, overcome their barriers to employment and discover new career paths during tailored one-to-one appointments, as well as the option of being matched with a local mentor.
Councillor Kel Finan-Cooke, Property and Economic Development Portfolio Holder, Surrey Heath Borough Council said;
“It is great news The Workshop has secured funding for a further 12 months, its fourth-year operating.
The job market can be daunting place for young people and knowing where to go for the right training and support to achieve careers goals, is very important.
The Workshop is the bridge to accessing the right job and the right career path for each individual young person – providing support and guidance along the way. Enabling them to build their confidence, skills, and consequently secure work.
Many thanks to the brilliant team managing The Workshop for their commitment and dedication and I look forward to seeing what will be achieved over the next 12 months.”
