Surrey Heath Borough Council is celebrating after receiving FIVE Green Flag Awards for our parks and green spaces across the Borough.

This further increases the number of parks in Surrey Heath which have achieved this international mark of quality and excellence.

London Road Recreation Ground in Camberley has a new Green Flag Award and joins Frimley Green Recreation Ground, Windlemere Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspace (SANG), Frimley Lodge Park and Lightwater Country Park.

This year marks 24 consecutive years of Green Flag awards for Frimley Lodge Park – a brilliant achievement – and Lightwater Country Park is celebrating its sixth award.

Councillor Morgan Rise, Portfolio Holder for Net Zero, Environment & Leisure, Surrey Heath Borough Council said,

“Securing an additional Green Flag in addition to the four we have been awarded in the past is a great testament to our commitment to open, accessible and pleasant green spaces across the Borough. We are committed to winning more Green Flags in the future with our excellent parks and open spaces.”

Well done to the Council’s officers who maintain these parks so well for us all to enjoy.”

The Green Flag Award scheme is managed by Keep Britain Tidy in partnership with Keep Wales Tidy, Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful and Keep Scotland Beautiful under licence from the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government, setting the benchmark standard for the management of recreational outdoor spaces across the United Kingdom and around the world.
