Surrey Heath residents can boost local renewable energy generation, cut carbon emissions and save on their energy bills with the latest round of Solar Together Surrey.
As part of the group-buying scheme, local people can come together to invest in solar panels, battery storage and Electric Vehicle charging points, confident that they are paying the right price for a high-quality installation from pre-approved installers.
Surrey Heath Portfolio Holder for Net Zero, Environment and Leisure, Cllr Morgan Rise said: “This third phase of the Solar Together Surrey scheme is underway, and will directly benefit residents across the borough and support Surrey Heath in achieving our net zero targets.
“The previous two phases proved very popular with local residents, and we hope that many more will sign up for this latest scheme. Those who take part should see lower energy bills, while cutting carbon emissions and increasing local renewable energy generation.”
Local people signing up to schemes like Solar Together Surrey will help Surrey Heath reach its Climate Change targets – the Council is aiming to reach net zero carbon emissions as an organisation by 2030, and help the borough as a whole to reach net zero by 2050.
More than 5,500 households across Surrey have already registered for this latest phase of the scheme - it’s free to register and there is no obligation to go ahead with an installation.
Since 2021, 2,250 Surrey residents have benefited from the installation of solar panels and battery storage using the scheme.
Surrey Heath Borough Council is working in partnership with Surrey County Council and independent experts iChoosr, to make the transition to clean energy as cost effective and hassle-free as possible.
This innovative scheme builds on seven years of the highly successful Solar Together programme across the UK. To date Solar Together has delivered over 6,720 installations and avoided over 125,000 tonnes of lifetime carbon emissions.
More information is available on the Solar Together website (external link), and the deadline to register is 13 September 2024.
