The Workshop, located in The Square shopping centre in Camberley, has been successful in securing funding from the Department of Work and Pensions Flexible Support Fund to continue for another year until 1 April 2025.
A joint partnership between Surrey Heath Borough Council and The Department for Work and Pensions, The Workshop provides holistic support to people aged 18 to 24 living in Surrey Heath.
The Workshop works closely with employment support providers, local businesses, organisations and charities to offer young job seekers opportunities to improve their employment skills, overcome their barriers to employment and discover new career paths during tailored one-to-one appointments, as well as the option of being matched with a local mentor.
Councillor Kel Finan-Cooke, Economic Income Development Portfolio Holder, Surrey Heath Borough Council said; “This is great news for Surrey Heath. The Workshop has been very successful in delivering support, mentoring and access to job opportunities. This has enabled many young people to build their confidence and consequently secure work.
Many thanks to the team managing The Workshop for their commitment and I look forward to seeing what will be achieved over the next 12 months.”
