Council grants to support vital local services

In a strategic move to support vital community initiatives, Surrey Heath Borough Council has recommended approval of the allocation of revenue grants for 2024-25.

This funding will enable key local organisations to deliver essential services to those in greatest need.

The Executive has recommended approval of the award of the following grants from this year’s funding stream, totalling £180,000:

  • Citizens Advice Surrey Heath - £95,000
  • The Hope Hub - £40,000
  • Voluntary Support North Surrey - £20,000
  • Surrey Heath Age Concern - £10,000
  • Camberley & District Job Club - £8,000
  • Voluntary Support North Surrey: Time to Talk project - £7,000

All grants are subject to service level agreements.

This will fund a wide range of services including debt advice and support, employment advice services, charity sector capacity building and volunteering, support for older people, befriending and homelessness.

Surrey Heath Portfolio Holder for Inclusion and Housing Cllr Lisa Finan-Cooke said:

“We are hugely aware of the vital work that local community and voluntary organisations carry out across our borough, and are very pleased that despite increasing budget pressures, we have been able to recommend supporting these organisations for the next year.

“Supporting those who are most in need, and promoting healthier and more inclusive communities, is a key priority for us, and the recipients of these revenue grants are essential in helping to achieve these objectives.”
