Unauthorised encampment - The Mytchett Centre

We are aware of an unauthorised encampment at The Mytchett Centre. We will be visiting the site and working with the relevant agencies to resolve this situation as soon as possible using the most appropriate powers available to us.

Update: 11 August, 4pm

Surrey Heath Borough Council (SHBC) officers have visited the site of the unauthorised encampment at The Mytchett Centre.

We are working closely with Surrey Police and The Mytchett Centre to resolve the situation as soon as possible.

There are 3 caravans and associated vehicles on-site.

SHBC officers served the group of people at The Mytchett Centre with a notice to vacate the land by 5pm on Sunday 13 August.

We will update with further information once this deadline has been reached.

Once the site is vacated SHBC will ensure it is clean and safe for use.

Update: 13 August, 6pm

The group did not vacate the site by 5pm today as directed by Surrey Heath Borough Council (SHBC). Tomorrow we will apply for an order authorising the removal of vehicles and people from the site.

Once obtained SHBC officers will attend the site with relevant partner agencies to ensure compliance with the legal notice to vacate the site.

Once the site is vacated SHBC will ensure it is clean and safe for use.

Update: 15 August, 11:45am

The group left The Mytchett Centre site at 11am today following eviction by Surrey Police.

We'd like to thank our partners who helped resolve this situation as quickly as possible.

SHBC will ensure the site is clean and safe for use as soon as possible.
