The Fast Track Planning Service will speed up the process for people who opt for this service, providing applicants with a decision in just five weeks, compared with the standard eight weeks. This additional paid-for service will be offered to applicants when they first submit their planning application for determination.
SHBC's Planning service is also launching a new improved pre-application service, providing a wider range of options and services for applicants, including specialist advice for design, trees and drainage. This will provide further support and guidance to applicants on the acceptability of applications, prior to the submission of planning applications to the Borough.
Surrey Heath Portfolio Holder for Planning and Control Cllr Adrian Page said: "We are always looking for ways to improve our services to residents, and these additional options should enhance people's experiences of making planning applications further.
"For example, if you are you looking to build an extension to your property, you will be able to use our pre-application service for reliable expert advice on what is likely to be acceptable, and then if you would like a quicker decision on your application itself, you can choose our new fast track service to receive an outcome in only five weeks.
