Surrey Heath residents can boost local renewable energy generation, cut carbon emissions and save on their energy bills with a new community-led scheme.

As part of the Solar Together Surrey group-buying scheme, local people can come together to invest in solar panels and battery storage, confident that they are paying the right price for a high-quality installation from pre-approved installers.

Surrey Heath residents can join the scheme which offers solar panels with optional battery storage and Electric Vehicle charge points. There’s also retrofit battery storage for those who have already invested in solar panels.

It’s free to register and there is no obligation to go ahead with an installation. SHBC is working in partnership with Surrey County Council and independent experts iChoosr, to make the transition to clean energy as cost effective and hassle-free as possible.

Surrey Heath Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Net Zero, Wellbeing and Environment, Cllr Morgan Rise said: “We’re pleased that the second phase of the Solar Together Surrey scheme is starting, and it will directly benefit residents across the Borough and support Surrey Heath in achieving our net zero targets.

“The first phase in 2021 proved very popular with Surrey Heath residents, and we hope that plenty more will sign up for this latest scheme. Those who take part should see lower energy bills, while cutting carbon emissions and increasing local renewable energy generation – a win-win situation!”

This innovative scheme builds on six years of the highly successful Solar Together programme across the UK. To date Solar Together has delivered over 17,000 installations and avoided over 350,000 tonnes of lifetime carbon emissions.

More information is available on the Solar Together website, register by 11 August 2023.
