Following the Frimley Green Election held on 15 June 2023, Councillor Shaun Macdonald has been selected as Leader of the Council at the Extraordinary Council Meeting held on 28 June 2023.

Councillor Macdonald was elected as Lightwater Ward Councillor in the May 2023 local elections. He has lived in Surrey Heath for 35 years with a background in business.

Councillor Macdonald said: “I’m looking forward to leading the Council, and supporting members and officers, as our new administration puts in place exciting plans and projects to deliver on our vision for Surrey Heath.

I’d like to thank Cllr David Whitcroft for his interim leadership since the May elections and for putting in place a strong executive team that has already started the process of renewal for the residents and businesses we serve.

As a council we will be sharing more information about our plans very soon. Please remember to contact any of your Ward Councillors if you have any matters you would like raised at Council, and you can also watch all our Council meetings via live streams on the Council’s YouTube page.

I look forward to working with all local stakeholders, to make sure Surrey Heath remains a great place to live and do business.”
