Under the Licensing Act 2003 the annual fee for licensed premises becomes payable each year on the anniversary of the date the licence was initially granted. The responsibility to pay the annual fee lies with the licence holder.
You will need the invoice emailed to complete this payment.
Cash payments cannot be taken and the fee cannot be paid in instalments.
If you are applying for a premises licence for the first time, do not pay here, but pay with your premises licence application.
Who can use this service?
Premises licence holders.
Cost
Annual fees are based on the non-domestic rateable value of your premises. You can find the current rateable value of your premises using the Valuation Office Agency’s search engine (external link).
Band | Rateable Value | Annual premises licence fee |
---|---|---|
A | Not rated, or up to £4,300 | £70 |
B | From £4,301 to £33,000 | £180 |
C | From £33,001 to £87,000 | £295 |
D | From £87,001 to £125,000 | £320 |
E | From £125,001 or more | £350 |
Premises in bands D or E used mainly for consuming alcohol on the premises, are subject to fee multipliers. These have fees of £640 for band D and £1,050 for band E.
High-capacity premises
Premises licences for large capacity events have an extra annual fee, based upon the number of people allowed to attend the event at any time. The extra annual fee must be added to the relevant annual fee in the table above.
Licensed capacity | Extra annual premises licence fee |
---|---|
5,000 to 9,999 | £500 |
10,000 to 14,999 | £1,000 |
15,000 to 19,999 | £2,000 |
20,000 to 29,999 | £4,000 |
30,000 to 39,999 | £8,000 |
If your capacity is higher than this, please contact the licensing team.
Exceptions
Some community premises may not have to have a licence or pay annual fees as they are only licensed for entertainment and not alcohol or late night refreshment. These include church halls, chapel halls, village halls, community centres, schools and colleges. To discuss whether this should apply to your premises contact the licensing team.
