You need a permit if your premises has gaming machines. This is where the stakes or prizes are very low or gambling is not the main function of the premises.
Premises that are licensed to sell alcohol are allowed two gaming machines. You must let us know if you are going to use them. However, restrictions do apply to the type and number of machines you have and to the stakes and prizes. For full details visit the Gambling Commission website (external link).
We only grant or reject an application. Conditions cannot be attached to a permit.
We can grant the following permits:
- unlicensed family entertainment centre permits
- club gaming permits and club machine permits
- licensed premises gaming machine permits
- prize gaming permits
Tacit consent
Tacit consent does not apply. We will aim to respond to your application within 10 working days. If you have not heard from us within this period, please get in contact. We must process your application before the licence can be granted.
