About the training

What is Access Sport's Surrey Inclusion Learning Series

Access Sport is pleased to be bringing a series of Disability and Neurodivergence Inclusion Trainings to organisations across the county, supported by Active Surrey. Places on these trainings are available to anyone who works or volunteers in an organisation that uses sport to engage with children and young people, within a Surrey-based area.

What is a Disability Inclusion Training with Access Sport?

Our Disability Inclusion Training is designed to increase confidence, competence, and knowledge to create a disability-inclusive environment, and deliver fun and inclusive activities for all abilities and needs. The session explores both disability-focused delivery and disability-inclusion within your existing sport sessions and physical activity provision. We will consider various disabilities, impairment groups and long-term health conditions – including physical disabilities and mobility differences; learning disabilities, neurodivergence; visual impairments; hearing impairments and other non-visible disabilities.

What will I learn?

Disability Inclusion Training covers:

  • The importance of disability inclusivity through a sport and physical activity lens
  • What a disability-inclusive environment looks like in a sport and physical activity setting
  • Barriers and challenges for disabled people in accessing traditionally provided sport and physical activity
  • Practical skills, tools and ideas to adapt and develop inclusive practice in your own environment

Who would benefit from attending this training session?

This training is suitable for anyone who works or volunteers in community sport, or uses sport to engage children and young people. This may include coaches, centre managers, administrators, officials or other relevant roles.

Who is eligible for a place on one of the Surrey Inclusion Learning Series sessions?

To be eligible for this session, you must be 16+ and work or volunteer:

  • At a club or organisation based on Surrey,
  • With children and young people, and
  • Use sport or physical activity within your provision

If you do not qualify for a place on one of these sessions, please check back regularly as we often release new sessions in different parts of the country.
