Information on schemes to help with getting affordable food.

If you can’t afford essential food you can:

Food banks

If you need the support of a food bank, you can get a food bank voucher from a frontline professional, for example: 

  • doctor
  • social worker
  • Citizens Advice adviser
  • Frontline adviser
  • our Housing, Family Support or Welfare team
  • Surrey County Council’s Children’s and Adult Social Care teams
  • Accent Housing and other social housing providers
  • the police

If you have difficulty due to disability or long term health condition in getting to your local foodbank, the Access to Food scheme run by Surrey Coalition for Disabled People (external link) may be able to support you with funding the cost of a taxi to the foodbank.
