Looking for a New Year's challenge? The Frimley Lodge Park Duathlon is the perfect event for both beginners and experienced multi-sport athletes.
Whether you need a fitness goal, or if you are a regular competitor looking to kick off your season, this is the event for you.
Surrey Heath Borough Council will be holding the latest in their series of multi-sport events with their first duathlon in Frimley Lodge Park on 15 March 2020.
A duathlon follows a run-cycle-run format – helpful for those who struggle with the swim element of a triathlon.
With a starting point in Green Flag Award-winning Frimley Lodge Park, competitors will run alongside the picturesque Basingstoke Canal, then cycle along the roads of Frimley and Deepcut before the final run section back in the park.
There will be both a GO TRI and Sprint Duathlon distance taking place at the same time, so competitors can choose the distance that suits them best:
- GO TRI - Run 2.5km, Cycle 9.5km, Run 2.5km
- Sprint Duathlon - Run 5km, Cycle 19km, Run 2.5km
Surrey Heath Portfolio Holder for Places and Strategy, Cllr Dan Adams, said: “These duathlons are a great introduction to multi-sport events in a friendly environment.
“I’d encourage anyone who is considering entering to go for it.
“This is the latest in a series of multi-sport events the Council has organised, demonstrating our commitment to supporting sports development and healthy fitness in the Borough.”
The Go TRI event costs £19 to enter, the longer Sprint duathlon is £25. Entrants must be 16+. Registration opens at 12.30pm, with a start time of 1pm.
