Radio Frimley Park hosted entertainment in the Show’s Arena. There were a number of performances from Bezerkaz Circus’ Arthur the Juggler who showed audiences his amazing skills. He juggled on stilts; hula hooped and for his finale presented an amazing fire show! Local groups Phoenix and Redz Performing Arts and Sandhurst and District Corps of Drums also performed.
The Show saw the return of long-standing favourite, the Companion Dog Show whilst music was provided throughout the day by the Farnborough Concert Band of the Royal British Legion.
The Classic Car Show organised by Bob Potter was a popular element of the day. Newly appointed Mayor of Surrey Heath, Cllr Dan Adams judged the Classic Car Show Competition and presented winner John Emmerton with a certificate and prize for his pristine Austin Seven Tourer manufactured in 1928, first registered January 1929.
Camberley Theatre in partnership with the Surrey Heath Arts Council brought Bootworks Theatre Company’s ‘The JukeBoxes’ to the Show for the very first time. The two jukeboxes quite literally sprung to life when two performers popped out of the boxes and re-created classic pop music videos complete with lip-syncing, props, puppets and wigs!
Children’s entertainment included fairground rides, the miniature railway and excellent performances from Professor Dill’s Punch and Judy Show!
There was a wide range of food and drink on offer including the Shows own BBQ as well as lots of stalls from local businesses, community groups and charities for customers to peruse.
The Show’s mascot Spike The Hedgehog spent much of his day posing for photos although he did manage to take part in a march with the Sandhurst and District Corps of Drums!
Each year the Surrey Heath Show distributes some of its proceeds to local charities and community groups. In 2017 over £10,000 was given to such groups to help fund some of their projects. Applications to apply for monies raised at the 2018 Surrey Heath Show will be available in mid June.
The 2018 Show was sponsored by The Massage Company and Arena Leisure Centre. For more details about the Surrey Heath Show or any of the acts that performed please visit www.surreyheathshow.org.
