Children's Play Areas/ Playgrounds

Please observe social distancing guidelines wherever possible:

  • If this play area is crowded, do not enter if you cannot safely stay at a distance from others.
  • Please clean/wash your hands before you enter the play area if possible
  • Do not visit a park or play area if you have any symptoms - fever, coughs, shortness of breath.
  • Please follow Public Heath England advice on hygiene and wash your hands as soon as you get home. 
  • Please take all your litter home with you where possible to help keep our parks and play areas litter free.
Government guidance on social distancing and maximum group sizes should be followed. This will be kept under constant review, subject to further announcements from the Government.

Chobham Road Recreation Ground 

The winning design for the new playground at Chobham Road Recreation Ground has been announced. The amazing Kompan design features two multi-play units, a Tetrahedron climbing net, and shell seat, flat, cradle and Cocowave pendulum swings. Children can also enjoy an ambulance springer, Tipi carousel, see-saw and play panels. The existing sand will also be removed and replaced with new safety surfacing throughout.

Frimley Lodge Park

The new playground at Frimley Lodge Park opened after a £150k makeover in July 2019. 

The play area design was developed through a public consultation involving park users, local schools and residents, and chosen via a public vote held by the Council at the end of last year.    
 
Aimed at children up to age 14, it includes a wide variety of features including castle and keep-themed towers, racing zipwires, a sensory path, sandpit and various types of swing. 
 
Inclusive play equipment includes a ground level roundabout and trampoline, sensory eco-rain wheel, play panels, tipi carousel, birds nest swing, home see-saw and DDA accessible stairs to the castle units.

Lightwater Country Park

After an £80k makeover, the fantastic new facility was opened on Friday 8 November at a ceremony at the playground's new location next to the cafe. 

The new playground features two multiplay units, pick up sticks climbing frame, activity net, various swings including a basket swing, an agility trail, musical babel drum and a 'rock ‘n bowl' roundabout. 
 
The winning Wicksteed design was chosen following an extensive consultation held by SHBC earlier this year, including local children, followed by a public vote. 
 
This playground was refurbished as part of a wider Play Area Improvement Scheme across Surrey Heath, worth £650,000 over three years.

London Road Recreation Ground

The winning playground design for the new playground at London Road Recreation Ground in Camberley has been announced. The brilliant new play area will feature a bespoke castle multi-play unit, basket, flat and cradle swings, an inclusive roundabout, a duck springer, swirl whirl and pirouette spinners, a see-saw, play panels and new safety surfacing throughout.

Loman Road Recreation Ground

A fantastic new playground has opened at Loman Road, Mytchett. The final playground design was chosen following an extensive consultation process and public vote.

Old Dean Recreation Ground

We recommend visitors to the Old Dean playground travelling by car should park in the car park next to the Old Dean bowls club, postcode GU15 4AY, rather than on surrounding residential roads.

Orchard Way 

The winning playground design for the new playground at Orchard Way in Camberley has been announced. The fantastic new play area will feature two multi-play units, a trampoline, face to face springer, a low platform roundabout, and pod, cradle, flat seat and rope end swings. New safety surfacing including graphics and seating will be installed as part of this project.
